Questions
What people ask us most
Do you take my insurance?
Gilt is out of network with insurance plans; you pay for each session yourself and Marc gives you an itemized receipt in case your plan reimburses. He does not take Medicare or Medicaid.
What is a superbill and how do I use it?
It is an itemized receipt with the dates and kind of each session. You send it to your plan, which may reimburse part of out-of-network care. It carries a diagnosis code your insurer can see, and your plan decides whether it pays anything.
What is a good faith estimate?
If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written estimate of your care before you start. We give you one before the first session. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.
How much does it cost, and how do fees work?
Your fee is given to you in writing before the first session, and you pay at the end of each session. The fees page explains insurance, receipts and the written estimate.
Can I use an HSA or FSA card?
Yes. You can pay by card at the end of each session, including an HSA or FSA card. Ask your plan administrator what it accepts as a receipt.
What happens in the first session?
It lasts 60 minutes. Marc explains how he works, the limits of confidentiality and the possible risks and benefits of therapy, and listens. At the end, you both decide whether to continue.
How often, and for how long?
Marc sets the pace with you. We do not promise a number of sessions: it depends on what you want to work on and how you feel.
Are you licensed where I live?
Marc's license is from New Jersey. By video he sees people who are in New Jersey during the session. If you are elsewhere, we will help you find someone licensed where you live.
What do I do in a crisis?
Call or text 988, any time. In an emergency, call 911. This site and our messages are not monitored around the clock.
What is confidential, and what are the limits?
What you share stays in the session. The law sets limits: if someone is at serious risk of harming themselves or another person, or if abuse of a child or an older adult is suspected, Marc may have to tell others. He explains this in writing before you start.
Can you see my teenager?
Gilt sees adults. Family sessions are for adults in the same family. If you are looking for someone for a teenager, we will give you the names of colleagues.
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask for 24 hours' notice to change an appointment. If a holiday or Shabbat makes a session hard to keep, tell us as soon as you see it and we move it without a late fee.
